Well if you have streight hair, the best bet would be to get a perm. And after that, you use curl defying shampoos/conditioners and cremes.

If you already have curly hair use those same shampoos make for curly hair. And buy a curl defy creme. Scrunch this into your towl dried hair and blow dry with a diffuser.

It works great.
